In this lesson i created this apple. To do this i did the following:I started this by creating A sphere with several segments and converting it into and editable poly. After this i selcted certain faces accorss the top and moved them down into the apple. i then did the same with the bottom of the apple. once this was all done i used the meshsmooth modifier to round off all the edges. When all this was done i went back to the editable mesh and changed some of the faces on the side of the apple to make it look less spherical.
The Stem
This was created by using a cylinder positioned in the correct location and then using the bend modifier on it. This created the curve of the stem and made it smooth.

Looks good mate. I think its still a bit round. I dont think its long enough (if you know what i meen). Dont get me wrong, its still good. ASDA would be proud to have it. lol)
I actually like the shape of the apple because believe it or not, some apples are very round!
The stalk could be improved on though I think, as it looks a bit too smooth for a stalk.
I agree with your two critics, that the apple is too perfect - it may be perfect enough to be sold in M&S - but you need to do more modelling to make it really convincing.
it is a bit too perfect but at the same time as lisa said some apples are very rounded and do look quite perfect!!!
Its good though I think chaning the colour so it has a bit of texture or some gradient and slight changes in the colour, if you know what I mean, would make it look more realistic. :)
