over the last week i have been experimenting with texture effects for sand and sea. i have now reached a point at which i feel my effects look realistic. these still need a bit of work however but this is what i have created
all this needs to complete it is a background picture and a decent camera view. i will be using this in my final scene and expanding it so it goes right out to the horizon.the waves in the sea are maybe a little too big and could do with being reduced.

Looking good, but I agree with you when you say the waves are big. They just need to be redused a bit, then this scene would look good.
Are you going to animate this? If so, then the waves may look better then in a still image.
